Integral Futures is the underpinning framework for the Futures Conversations Framework. It creates four spaces for four different conversations that need to be integrated when we use futures in the present.
Origins
Integral Theory and Integral Futures
Integral Futures was defined by Richard Slaughter and is an application of Ken Wilber’s Integral Theory. Integral Theory is a complex, multi-level, and often contested theory that attempts to use a wide understanding of all knowledge that can be identified and use it to define an interpretative frame to inform our thinking and understanding of our realities. Like all frameworks, it is contested and dismissed by some - which is not surprising since all models are wrong, but some are useful in some contexts.
